Your MP abstained or wasn’t an MP last time assisted dying was debated.
MPs have faced an onslaught of misinformation and a fierce and well-funded campaign against assisted dying. So even if you’ve written before, thanking them for their continued support is really important.
We’ve made it easy for you to write by providing a standard letter, but we know that MPs react best to letters where they are customised to match your own experience and views. Here’s how you can do that:
If you are terminally ill and fear you will need an assisted death, please talk about this.
If you have or have had a loved one who would have benefited from a compassionate assisted dying law, please talk about this.
If you are a medical professional, please explain how this influences your views.
The bad news is that this new Bill will need to go through all the stages and votes in the House of Commons that the last one did. The good news is that if our elected MPs pass this Bill, the unelected Lords will not be able to block it again.
This could well bring about real compassionate change to people who are dying.
We know we’ve asked you to do this many times before, but again, we need you to write to your MP to support assisted dying.
