We have the opportunity to correct an injustice. People suffering at the end of their lives deserve choice and compassion. MPs voted in favour of that choice, but then the Assisted Dying Bill was blocked by a small number of peers in the House of Lords, who talked it out with nearly 1,300 amendments and countless speeches.
This is a democratic outrage.
Lauren Edwards MP has done the brave thing and brought it back.
The bad news is that this new Bill will need to go through all the stages and votes in the House of Commons that the last one did. The good news is that if our elected MPs pass this Bill, the unelected Lords will not be able to block it again.
This could well bring about real compassionate change to people who are dying.
We know we’ve asked you to do this many times before, but again, we need you to write to your MP to support assisted dying.
