Ask your MP to bring back the Assisted Dying Bill

The Assisted Dying Bill was blocked by a small number of peers in the House of Lords, who talked it out with nearly 1,300 amendments and countless speeches.

This is a democratic outrage.

We need you to ask your MP to bring the Bill back. MPs will soon enter a lottery, with the winning MPs able to bring forward a Bill of their choosing. We want them to bring the Assisted Dying Bill back, and if they do, then the Lords won’t be able to block it again.

This could well bring about real compassionate change to people who are dying.

If your MP voted in favour in the past, we want you to ask them to bring the Bill back in the ballot. If your MP voted against, we want them to respect democracy and not stand by while the Lords are able to block bills without even voting.

We’ve made it easy for you to write by providing a standard letter, but we know that MPs react best to letters where they are customised to match your own experience and views. Here’s how you can do that:

  1. If you are terminally ill and fear you will need an assisted death, please talk about this.
  2. If you have or have had a loved one who would have benefited from a compassionate assisted dying law, please talk about this.
  3. If you are a medical professional, please explain how this influences your views.
