Ask your MP to join Thursday's debate on assisted dying

Ask your MP to voice their support for assisted dying for the incurably suffering and terminally ill at Thursday's debate on the matter in the House of Commons.

As you may be aware, Humanists UK recently supported our patron Paul Lamb to take a new case for the right to die. This follows on from our successful All Party Parliamentary Humanist Group meeting on the topic back in February, which saw Paul and others make the case for the UK to change its prohibitive assisted dying laws.

The tide is turning on assisted dying. Compelling research from the UK's Assisted Dying Coalition has found that more than one person a week is now forced to end their life abroad. More progressive countries have legalised assisted dying around the world; the Royal College of Physicians has ended its opposition to it, and the British Medical Association and the Royal College of General Practitioners are now also polling their members on the issue; and beyond this – public opinion in favour of assisted dying continues to grow as a recent survey showed that more than 90% of the UK public now supports assisted dying. But there is still a lot more to do.

You can help us win this fight. You can write to your MP by sending an email using the form below asking them to support a more compassionate law. Just enter your postcode and it'll automatically identify your MP. Do customise the email if at all possible, as we know that more bespoke letters receive a more favourable response.
