Politicians continue to debate the Assisted Dying Bill in the House of Lords. We need you to tell the Lords to attend and support the Bill. We also need your help to find out their view on the Bill.

We have provided a template to help you write to active members of the House of Lords and ask them to attend and support.

While we have provided a template, we strongly encourage you to personalise your email. Heartfelt stories and personal experiences will show peers why assisted dying matters to you specifically.

If you or your loved one is terminally ill and would want an assisted death, please talk about this.
If you have lost someone who could have benefited from a compassionate assisted dying law, please share their story.
If you are a medical professional, please explain how this influences your views.

I’m writing to you about assisted dying, something I support.I feel incredibly strongly about this - terminally ill people deserve choice at the end of their lives, and this Bill is all about choice; no one is forced down this route. I understand that you have the difficult job of going through the Bill looking for possible improvements. But I think there’s a strong difference between scrutinising something and filibustering it. Peers have already put forward over 1,000 amendments and less than 30 have been debated.These tactics risk undermining the House of Lords and eroding trust in politicians altogether.We need to get the balance right between having strong checks to protect vulnerable people and being kind to those who are dying. Right now, this Bill makes a dying person go through more steps than anywhere else in the world, and it only applies to people who are expected to live six months or fewer.As you look at this Bill in the House of Lords, please think about the person who will actually have to use it: someone who is in pain, who is dying, and who just wants some control over how their life ends. Please create a system that is both safe and kind, and that really takes their needs into account.Can I count on you to support this Bill and not let it get bogged down or blocked?
